Victoria D. Handy joined the staff of Fathers and Family’s Center as an Education Specialist Consultant in September 2014. She later joined the Eskenazi Health Staff of Fathers and Families Center as an Education Specialist in June 2015. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry (Cum Laude) from Alabama State University. Her graduate studies include studying Biochemistry at Purdue Univ., in West Lafayette, IN, and earning a Master of Divinity degree from Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis, IN. She is also an ordained elder in the methodist denomination.
Her professional career has been prominent in the Health Sciences field where she spent much time conducting Biomedical research. She has worked at Indiana Univ. Dept. of Medicine, Infectious Diseases and has a paper published in the Journal of Infectious Diseases. She has presented her research work at a National Institutes of Health Symposium. In addition, she has worked in Research and Development Patient Care/Diabetes at Roche Diagnostics formerly known as Boehringer Mannheim. Prior to joining Fathers and Families, she was employed by Eli Lilly and Company where she worked in the Medical Device field for the delivery of insulin in manufacturing, product development, and clinical trials.
Coming from a family history of educators where both her mother and father hold masters degrees in mathematics and a combined total of 70+ years in education prior to their retirement, it was just a matter of time before Victoria’s passion for learning and helping others in education would come to the surface. Prior to coming to Fathers and Families, Victoria worked as a mentor for teachers who were employed through the Teach for America Program, tutored many student athletes in Statistics and English at Purdue Univ, and earned a seat on the Textbook Adoption Committee for the Washington Township School District. Since coming to Fathers and Families, her passion for education continues to grow as she takes pride in seeing her students achieve their educational goals.
Victoria is a native of Montgomery, Alabama and spends a lot of time ministering to others. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with family, going to movies, bowling, and listening to gospel music and jazz.
