John Muhammad serves as a Family Support Services Specialist conducting participant intakes, case management and Healthy Relationship class facilitation for singles and couples in the “It Starts With You!” program at our Eastside location. John has a Bachelor’s of Science Degree from Purdue University in Health and Human Services. He also has years of training and experience working in the field of mental health. Before employment with Fathers and Families Center, John was employed with Park Center Inc. in Fort Wayne, IN for over 11 years where he worked in the Substance Abuse Treatment Department and the Home Base Services Department.
While at Park Center John helped develop the program structure for a cutting edge, evidence based, day treatment program called New Freedom that provided life skills and case management services for severely mentally ill clients. He also served as a consultant for the development of a modified therapeutic community called the Kelly House that was developed by Allen County Community Corrections and a partnership with Park Center Inc. and in2004, received the 2004 Excellent Customer Service Award of the year.
John was born in Oakland, CA and resided in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He and his wife moved to Indianapolis 4 years ago and have been married for five years. John has 11 children and 6 grandchildren. He enjoys listening to music, reading, family outings, and playing golf on the Wii.
